| I have read that you can make any mic into a boundry microphone simply by placing it or fixing it to a reflective plate.
I have not experimented, maybe a rubber band securely around a mic on a flat peice of metal?
The realistic PZM though very affordable, sounds good and is such a mic premade for such purpose.
I have used stereo pairs in a room that had nice acoustics and it really provided a nice overall image.
It does not seem to be a very colored mic in terms of response.
I have not used a crown PZM which this mic either is, -p48, or is based on depending on when it was made.
I have heard various iterations of the mics history and lineage and I don't know. The general point is that its a crown pzm minus some goodies xlr,p48.
As such it is a good pedigree for the price it goes for and with some mods can be even better.
I used the mic stock.
The inital reviewer talked about putting it inside a bass drum, I would not have done that but I am glad to hear it works!
It is a cool tool and having a pair mounted permanently on the walls can be an easy way to capture the room whenever you want.
Cool mic.
I have not had one in a few years and I don't recall the noise performance on them, but it wasnt that bad from what I recall. |
