An Edison Plug is the name given to the standard 3 prong plug you see all over here in North America. ( like the ones on your house)

Jay, when I say "real" power, I mean tying into the main power source, usually with bare ends or with Trico clamps. Sometimes, venues may have a Camlok connector panel so you can just plug in each individual line and you're all set. With "real" power, you use one cable per connection.

Three phase system:
G = Ground
N = Neutral
R = Red leg
BK = Black leg
BL = Blue leg

Single phase system:
G = Ground
N = Neutral
R = Red leg
BK = Black leg

When an isolation transformer is used, you float the Neutral. That is, you're creating your own neutral via the transformer center tap, so you need not use the venue's Neutral. That keeps everything ultra clean in the truck. No crap on the Neutral to f*ck with you.

Suppose I'm building a live/remote recording rig (because I am). Assuming that cost were not an issue, what would be the _ideal_ way to derive and maintain the cleanest power possible? Somebody over at rec.audio.pro has a thread going about power conditioners and it has brought up mention of various devices beyond mere rack-mount power strips (like ferroresonant transformers). I'd like to know as much as possible about the pro's and con's of all ot the different power treatment conditioning options as possible. Thanks.-Paul
