Talking Ultimate Ears UE-Hybrid or UE-5 Ambient

I'm in the market for some IEM's for live performance. I need a fair amount of isolation (maybe 10-15 dB) but still need to be able to hear a stage monitor "through" them. Basically I need to be able to listen to a normal monitor and compare that to a different (much lower) signal in the IEM's.

At any rate, has anyone bought or tested the Ultimate Ears UE-Hybrid or UE-5 Ambient IEMs?

Are there any other good custom fitted IEM's that don't give you 20+ dB of reduction or bust?

Thanks...

the Sesaphonics with the ambient mic'ing addition looked interesting, but WAY expensive.

man, be careful using ambient ears AND a wedge..... asking for hearing damage.

BTW, I hear the new Future Sonics have some driver technology that is supposed to be really amazing. FWIW.

The monitors in question will be a lot less than a wedge and what will be in the IEM won't be in the other monitor. I'll have gain control of both pretty easily... so I'm not too worried there. I just don't want to get a set of IEM's that have 25 dB attenuation and I have to crank the one monitor to hear it through the plug if you get my drift.

Just out of curiousity, why wouldn't you just feed whatever it is from the wedge to your IEM feed?

Hard to explain, but the feed in the wedge is the same that goes to the FOH/mains and the feed in the IEM is more like a cue (not in the mains at all).
