What to get a remote recordist for x-mas?

so, what would make a great gift for that special someone you know that is often on there in the trenches recording?

a few of my friends are stereo recordists, and I still need to grab gifts..

perhaps some of you could send this link that special lady in your life that has no clue what to get for you

A box of gaffer tape is alway's handy when having it around on location. not that it is a perfect gift but shure could be a funny surprise

Here's something I've given to a few friends who do remote work..

http://www.electronicsoutfitter.com/...ml/85-202.html
or http://www.lsdinc.com/lsdinccgi/sear...ateblowup.html

It's the "Sling-A-Line" slingshot/wire-puller.

Aim, fire, attach wire (or pull-cord) and reel it back in. Excellent for getting mic lines up over ceiling beams, girders, etc. without a cherry-picker!

and funny, too.

Dave,

That "Sling-A-Line" device got to be the coolest Remote & Location recording time saver!!!

A must for every remotester's tool box.

Right on my man.

Although I'd like one of those "Sling-a-Line's" myself, most folks don't like toys that are likely to lead to lawsuits. For the slightly less adventurous stereo recordists, I think the Shure A27M is the best "under $100" gift available.

I still want one of them super-duper stereo arrays from Wes Dooley, but in the meantime, this little steel cylinder gets the job done on just about every one of my location gigs. I'm about to grab a second A27M so that I can fool around with 5.1 recording while I decide if its worth getting serious about surround. Maybe I should hold off until after Santa stops by........

Well I know X-mas is only a day away, but if I really, really liked someone I'd get them one of these .......... but it would have to be delivered directly to them, because if it came to my place I don't think I could part with it.

That's exactly what I will be buying myself the first day that AEA re-opens after Christmas. I wanted to pick one up two weeks ago, but they were out of "sliders" and waiting for the next batch of "sliders" to be powder coated. Then I got too busy last week and this week to run over to Pasadena.

Any body out there use one of these?

Oh, you'll like it. Once you have it, you'll be spoiled. That and a Jecklin Disk and you can do just about anything worth doing with a stereo pair.
