Having known Steve for more than a few years and having both fixed his gear and used his truck I can say with complete confidence that he is one of the biggest GEARSLUTZ I have ever met (with the possible exception of Alan Sides).The only place I know of with less visible floor space is MY SHOP!

If you offer a GEARSLUTZ FELLOWSHIP, I nominate Steve.

On a different note:
I was wondering why your post needed validation. Tom posted it back on 10/01/02 and was waiting for moderator validation or something to that effect. I just noticed it when I saw snooping around this board today. I got to ask Jules about this stuff. Can anyone share some light on this?

I think there is a 'Twiglet Zone' - a period just as someone is regestering when they are neither logged in or logged out. I think that was it.

Just curious: Is this the same Steve Remote that engineered with the Scofflaws? One of my fav New York SKA bands of their era.

Yes, indeed. I recorded, engineered and produced that wild & crazy CD!

I heard a rumor, they sold more live CD's then their last few studio releases or something to that effect. Too bad the original band is not together anymore.

If you didn't like it:
I have no idea who you're refering to. For that matter, what is Ska anyway?

ska was what reggae was spawn from. if reggae is all stoned... then ska would be like reggae on coke.

very fast, clean guitars, horns are usually used... almost like big band.... kick is usually four on the floor for a good part of it.

mighty mighty bosstones were the ones who made it "popular" and the explosions of other bands came through although they were certainly not the first [or the last]

When I think of Ska, I think of 50 + year old Jamacans playing origional Ska.

Seen it once in a smalll club in London, it was amazing.

Beres Hammond, Black Uhuru, Buju Banton, Jimmy Coozy, Ras Karbi...

Ska:
Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Scofflaws, The Specials, The Toasters, UB 40...

Wow... The Specials... What material?

The toaster's studio work was never as good as their live stuff.

Yeah, the Scofflaws live cd did a great job of capturing the energy of their show, which is were they really shined. Their 2nd record pailed in comparison to their first, but that's because I liked the 1st one so damn much.

I agree with you 100% about the Toasters and the Scofflaws.

I did a radio broadcast with the Specials from one of my favorite clubs called "Harrah's" way back in the early '80's for a WPIX-FM, which played great music from punk to rock to the blues. We did every live or taped broadcast that station aired for a few years. The format and call letters changed soon after.

Besides, recording the live Scofflaws record, I also worked with them during a "USA - Up All Night" location shoot at the Palladium in NYC for the New Year's Eve Special "Porky's" Trilogy that aired sometime ago. Gilbert Gottfried & Rhonda Shear hosted the event while the Toasters and the Scofflaws performed. We recorded tons of bumpers that went between the various "Porky's" movies and the commercial breaks that aired all night.
