Question PZM for Theatre - Any recomandations?

hi!

i just startet as audio-engineer at a small theatre (270 seats)

they play mostly theatre and musicals

can you recommend any PZM mics that are not too expensive for usage in theatre-sound?

Crown PCC-160. Basic research will turn these up easily. Try google!

They are supercardioidcardiod PZMs great for stage use.

There are other brands too but this is the standard mostly.

Another option would be the DPA 4061 and their associated pressure zone discs. I use these to record the singers on the Opera stage all the time. Waaay better sound than the Crowns (which I used to own), but pricier.

Yeah, any decent omni lav will sounds world better than a PCC but the PCC will give you tons more gain.

PCC 160 and shure Beta91 are good footmics, but cardioid condensers across the edge of the stage can do a great job...if you have AKG 391s, 460s, Shure Sm81s, etc....

you're in for a treat!
