Question Using a supporting stereo pair with a Jecklin disc?

So, I just made my jecklin disc, and bought my omni capsules (being shipped) When using the jecklin disc is there any time where it is ok to use a supporting stereo pair? If so, say I used an ORTF pair, would there be a special distance I sh ould place them between the omnis and the sound source? I am guessing that I would need to mix the ORTF delayed the amount of time it takes the sound to travel from the ORTF pair to the omni pair in my mix?

It all depends... But why would you want that "supporting pair"? What kind of source are you recording? I don't think there's anything wrong in principle to use additional spot mics close to the source, but I don't see much need for another stereo pair half way between the source and the main mic. Can you explain why you are thinking of using that?

I have never used a jecklin disc before, but I know alot of people use ORTF as main pair, then omnis back a bit farther to flavor. Wasn't sure if the jecklin disc would be strong enough for the main pair or not.

As good as any other main mic with omnis inthe same position, I'd say. When adding omnis further back to an ORTF pair, the ORTF would be seen as the main pair, with a bit of extra omni ambience...
What kind of omnis are you getting yourself?

I have sometimes used Jecklin plus additional omnis. The Jecklin setup has a pretty wide working angle, so sometimes I've ended up placing the disk closer (for best stereo spread) than is optimal for the room. Then I use spaced omni's to get some more room sound. Also, Jecklin/Scheider disks don't decorrelate well at low frequencies. One option is to add the auxiliary omnis only below 200Hz.

Choose the omni distance from the main pair (or delay in post) so that they don't foul up the imaging. May the Haas effect be with you.

pair of dorsey modded oktava 012 (omni and card)
and a pair of dorsey modded oktava 319 (card)

I feel I dont have alot of micing options. Right now I figure for any live recording situation my only option will be to jecklin disc with the 012 omnis, or to do a MS with the 319 pair and one 012 card or omni for center.

My only concern with doing MS is a ridiculous rig sitting up on stage. I am trying to find some mic clip clams for mic stands that arn't ridiculous (25+) I found one thats for a table top for about 7, but can't seem to find any for mic stand use :(
