Advice/Tips for getting the best sound from lav mics

Just finished day one of a new production in which most of the actors need to be fitted with lav mics. The mics cannot be showing and in most cases need to be directly under the actor's clothing.

I found it very difficult to eliminate the inevitable cloth movement from the clothing and am open to any and all techniques others may have had success with.

Any advice is appreciated.

For women, use the center of the bra, facing the body in that small "chamber"...may or may not work. For men use Tape (there's a special kind) to atach the mic to the body or protect it from cloth friction. Get a Boom!! nothing like a nice shotgun condensor well aimed. Also, if the actors are still, you can hide lavs close enough to capture dialog. Experiment, get a reliable wireless system (lectrosonics cames to mind)...Good Luck!

Thanks for the tips. Got a boom guy but no way he can cover 100% of each scene. Had a little success with the lavs but not enough. Guess I just have to keep experimenting.
