What high end gear would you use for live but not for studio?

Hello,

I am just nuts for the dutch series of 'twee meter sessies' if anyone heard them. Or just I would take any live cd over the studio version. Not that I do not like studiowork. I do. It's just, a musician will never play a song the same twice. I allways enjoy to know how they can do a song alil different.

Now I have specialized in live and besides doing everything digital in the box, I have now build my analog 38 ch live rig.

Live guys seem to shout everything Drawmer and more. I'd like to hear what gear you use especially high end for live.

LOL! Yeah, I'd love a pair of dV-dosc's...but not in my control room!

To the OP's question: I used to have a pair of Klark-Teknik's top of the line analog graphic EQs that I inherited from when I was working as a monitor engineer. It goes without saying that 31-band graphic EQs are invaluable in monitor world, and the K-T's are about as good as graphics get. I brought them into my home studio when I quit doing live work, figuring a great EQ is a great EQ anywhere.

They sat unused for YEARS! Seriously, I started keeping track of how often I used them once it struck me how dusty they were getting. One of them got used ONCE in 2.5 years, the other NEVER got used, ever. So I sold 'em. Great for live, useless for studio.

For what purpose? Live recording? Live sound reinforcement? Specifically drums or in general?
