Harp and flute

Maybe you saw the test we posted in the mastering forum. You all here are used to remote recordings.
Via the link there are 2 recordings of a harp and flute and we want to know which one do you prefer. The files are E and F on the site . If you don't have a preference or hear any difference please post it here too.
Best is to listen in your controlroom and load the files in the audioprogram and toggle between the two.

Thanks for the feedback.

I definitely like "E" better. The harp has more body and warmth, and the flute has more harmonics. "F" sounds really dried out and flat. My only criticism would be that the harp is mic'd too closely with respect to the flute. I think a bit more distance would allow the harp to open up more.

Careful! These files are most likely identical - the last one ones he posted were!

Proof positive that hearing/listening is very subjective and adaptive...

and perception in general is subject to influence and suggestion.

So true. I was talking with Sqye the other day, and we were comparing the merits of this and that, and when he said, "It's ALL subjective," it hit me--only at the very extremes are you going to get a consensus of what's "better," and even then maybe not!

I can't hear a difference between them.

I find the harp too forward/ "close" and would like more air around it - but that's not what you were asking.
