Best audio interface for live performance?

Ok, here's my question,

I'm a improvisational keyboard player and multimedia artist, and I'm currently working on a show that involves a Macbook pro running Max/Msp, NI Absynth and Ableton Live, one or more keyboards, a bevy of mics and a giant, midi-driven sound sculpture. Oh, and maybe a pair of syncronized live video feeds.

I am terrified of latency. Absolutely scared stiff. Which firewire interfaces out there have a reputation for low latency and reliable performance? I'm looking to spend well under a grand, so on my list right now are:

Motu Ultralite
Mackie Onyx 400f
Presonus Firestudio (when it finally comes out)

My secondary concern is getting a box with good A/D conversion and acceptable preamps so that I can take it back to my home recording studio. I've been running the original Motu 828, but the low gain on its pres isn't working so well for me anymore.

Recommendations, thoughts, live performance war stories? Please share them.

Thanks.
