Question Noise Reduction?

Hey guys,
A slightly odd question for you. I am currently recording a number of sports cars for an xbox360 game and i'm having trouble with extraneous noises from the tyres getting in the way of my recordings of the exhaust pipe particularly. The tyre noise is confined to a fairly narrow frequency band but if i eq it out i lose some oof the character of the exhaust.
I'm wondering if anyone has come across any good software for this kind of thing. Ideally i'd like to remove the high pitched tyre sound without affecting the exhaust sounnd too noticably. I've been looking at the cedar packages but haven't been able to find a price on them yet. Also soundsoap for peak and i've heard celemony melodyne can do clever things with formants. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I can post my problem sample if anyone's interested. Thanks in advance!

My first thought when you said Noise reduction was Waves X-Noise. I've heard that the new Z-Noise is pretty amazing, but I've not had the luxury to try it.

But, I don't know that it would fix exactly what you'd need. Have you tried to use a de-esser? Frequency dependant compression has saved my ass on a few occasions.
