Soon i will be flightcasing my recording equipment into an all in one setup. I want to make sure i get it absolutely right. I have some questions 1. Should i leave room for a patchbay. Since my mic pres are pretty high end I don't want to lose any audio quality. Any recommendations for a high quality patchbay? 2. Any comments on the ergonomics or design. I assume i'll put the 002 mixer and Powerbook on top of the setup. 3. Is there anyway i can silence the hard drives (ie the external one) because i will sometimes be in the same room as the performers (and sometimes the material could be soft classical, choral, piano etc) I will be racking the following equipment: Pro Tools Digi 002 mixer 15" Apple Powerbook 1.25 G Tech External FW HD Crane Song Spider (8 channels and mixing) Millenia HV3D (4 channels) Manley Vox Box (1 channel) SPL Gold Mike (2 channels) I will be recording some large setups. I may well need to record 16 channels simultaneously. I hope pro tools le records 16 channels without crashing or stalling. Appreciate the advice.

just the one drive? Throw it in a drawer that's a few spaces tall maybe, and leave it cracked? That's purely speculation though... or get a rack drawer and put a quiet exhaust fan... | |

I have my setup in a rack as well and it's about to change tomorrow with the introduction of a rackmount computer case- I never thought to put the patch bays on the back- great idea!

I guess we're all doing this together. I just picked up a 2x14 space shock rack(2 14 space bays side by side). Mounted rear rails for the patch bays. Bought a 17.75" deep computer case. I had already done quick disconnects from my studio console via EDAC56 connectors, right now I can drop 3 cables and roll out. I picked up 2 144 point tt patchbays and now I'm soldering like a fiend.

I looked at the stuff from Sigler, but check out the cases available at www.teptronics.com. I just picked one up in NYC today at their warehouse and they were very helpful. It is big though, I have to figure out how it is going to be mobile!
