Thumbs up Dave Hewitt Rocks My World!

I am sitting here in my office checking out the various threads on the Remote Possibilities forum with my sweet Dell 17" Inspiron 9300 laptop enjoying my examination and interpretation of this audio blog.

I’ve noticed that no one has brought up the fact that remote recording pioneer Dave Hewitt shall be inducted in the 22nd Annual TEC Awards Hall of Fame.

Damn, it’s about time!

Past inductees include the following:
2005 Arif Mardin
2004 George Lucas & Elliot Scheiner
2003 Eddie Kramer
2002 Geoff Emerick
2001 Roy Halee
2000 Sam Phillips
1999 Tom Dowd
1998 Colin Sanders
1997 Al Schmitt
1996 Willi Studer
1995 Phil Spector
1994 Frank Zappa
1993 Rudy Van Gelder

Some of his work includes…

PBS’s Live from the Met series
Metropolitan Opera’s Gala for Joseph Volpe
The Academy Awards
Live Aid
Eagles Live from Melbourne
Neil Young’s (film) Rust Never Sleeps and the newly-released Heart of Gold
Eric Clapton
Billy Joel
Aerosmith
Bob Dylan
George Benson
AC/DC
ZZ Top
James Brown
Stevie Wonder
Van Halen
Frank Zappa
Bruce Springsteen
U2
Yes
Woodstock 94 & 99
John Lennon
Mariah Carey
Crosby, Stills and Nash
The Buddy Rich Big Band
Miles Davis
The Rolling Stones
Frank Sinatra
The Police
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

Oh, and if this looks and sounds like an advertisement well, it is -- from me to him.

Congratulations Dave and all the best to you and yours!

Steve-

thanks on my father's behalf for your kind words! I just passed your post on to him...

My father's modest nature causes me to laugh whenever someone give him kudos, beacause he's always brushing compliments off, as he's "just doing his gig." I can tell you that he is very excited and grateful for the honor, but still doesn't know what he did to deserve it!

I just hope that he doesn't do his "is this thing on? (thunk thunk)" on the podium mic again...

See you at AES!

Ryan,

It’s my pleasure to say and feel like I do about your Dad.

Three days ago your Father emailed me thanking me for the good cheer. And that was very cool.

Your Dad's modesty is one of the reasons why I had to start this thread. He’s a one-of-a-kind person in this industry and people should know what he’s all about.

As some may already know the big business of remote recording business is “dog eat dog” in nature and it’s refreshing to have a man like your Dad around.

All the best to you and yours!

Is this Dave Hewitt the same guy who played bass for Babe Ruth? Or is he a completely separate person?
