Piano signal recording, processin and playing on monitors

Hello everybody,
in short - we doing one project whit piano and effects.
Piano player plays piano, while I am taking signal to mixer, add some effects and from mixer send it directly to speakers (with original piano signal muted). So listener hear whole sound picture together.

As we are all the time using different place to for rehearsal (depending of the aviability of room with piano) we have to cary all equipment with us - so it need to be light one. Also it should not be expensive as its project in development and budget is almost zero. As rooms change size - and mic could get echo from the room - its also important to minimize that effect - and get as much is possible clean signal from piano. I know that exist super expensive microphones - but in this stage we could not afford it.

Please help to select best possible mix do capture signal (and its easy to rent) and active monitors which could be loud enough to be in balance with piano, but also small enough to carry around) - also is important that monitors are strong enough to not be burned if signal comes out unexpetably strong. Was thinking about yamaha DS 50 - but read that they are sensitive and could be burned easily.

Also - mixer we tried today is beringer xenyx 1204 - which has two aux, but actually - one is pre and one is post - so we could not use two effects simultaneously - muting original signal. Any suggestion for mixer is also welcome

Sorry if I was to long in explanation of set up, but its very important that we have right set up ASAP up and running - so we could focus on creative parts of rehersal.

Thnx
