SANKEN MICROPHONE CO .,LTD. | Products [ CU-55 ]

Was wondering the cause of that "strange" behaviour @ 8Khz off-axis. It gets sort of omni at that frequency.

Anyone?

Most cardioids have a kind of wide cardioid, quasi omni pattern at the transition between the cardioid to hyper-cardioid pattern. That does not make the CU-55 a bad microphone.

I know (almost) all the basics behind mics. I was just curious because that peak off axis looks huge compared to most of the mics I know. That's it.

I have one coming in for a landing here. Then I can make a report. I like the things I've been told about it--very flat sound, very good off axis freq. response.

Sanken is super high quality.
