Talking New ADT Modular Live Recording System

http://www.adt-audio.ws/LiveRecordingSystemTM300.html

I emailed Gerd the other day to catch up with the news from ADT and it seems they've been rather busy.

The new modular live recording system can fit 11 modules racked vertically in a 4u frame. Each input module features Mic Pre, Pad, HPF, LPF, Limiter, 2 Aux, 5 segment LED, Pan, and level. The master / summing module features Aux masters, 5 segment LED, Phones and master volume.

Gerd, "We are talking about a price range of 5.500 Euro for a complete 8 channel system with 8 record inputs, a master, the frame and a power supply."

I asked him how the ToolMod system is progressing and here are some quotes,

"The vertical frames in 2U and 4U are available now. We also have the TM205 ready, which is the stereo version of the TM105, a stereo mastering compressor TM222 with some special, additional features and the TM130 M/S stereo direction and base width controller and some other stereo devices are also available......More than 100 1U frames have been delivered.....20 1U frames are already on order again; the stereo units make possible to combine a TM205 stereo 5 band EQ, a TM222 stereo mastering compressor and a TM130 stereo base width controller in a 1U frame. This is a versatile but affordable stereo mastering system in the price range of 2500 euros and apparently there is nothing similar in that price range."

Here's the ToolMod page:

Yep, here's one satisfied Toolmod user!

Great to hear that the mixer is ready.

I had two power supplies of the first batch and they both had some sort of hum. That was really annoying, but Gerd fixed everything very fast. So no complaints!thumbsup
That stuff sounds great and is quite cheap compared to other hi end stuff!

Check it out!

The reason its cheaper is because they only sell their products direct, removing the 'middle-man'. But I guess the down side for them is that dealers never mention or recommend them, so they have to rely entirely on word of mouth.

I've arranged to demo the new Portico 5033 when they arrive, and Gerd has also arranged for me to test the ADT 5-band-eq at the same time. I'm gonna try and see if I can get a G.R MP-2NV as well for a full-on shoot out!

There are some possibilities. As far as I know, all the different product lines (except the very expensive V700) have the same micpre designs.

you can choose from:

Toolmod (rack with modules)
Toolkit (19" channel strip)
Integrator ((rack with modules)
V700 (rack with modules)

Uups, forgot to say there's a little Stand Alone Micpre with built in powers upply also.
Looks kinda like the Groove Tubes Brick.

All the ADT preamps have variable Hi/Lopassfilters which is nice!

Sorry, only just seen this.

RND still haven't contacted me about getting hold of the demo unit (which they said they would supply me with), so until they do I'm not going to trouble Gerd for getting the ADT unit.

I still haven't found any reviews of the 5033, so I wonder whether its actually available over here yet.
