Question Time Code in Microsoft Excel

Hi guys,

I'd like to be able to add up time code in MS excel... Like, the stuff that protools spits out - e.g. 00:00:00;00

Is there a way to make this happen without too much trouble? Any info would be appreciated!

Tips/tricks for making cue sheets easier? I'm sure there are lots of you in the same boat as me!

Thanks
Adam

With excel you could define the format of the cells.
Just make a custom setting D:hh:mm:ss.000
Excels help funktion will tell you details how to do it.

If you're looking for a timecode calculator, there are many out around on the web. Keep in mind that your flipping digits @ 6 not 10 for minutes and seconds if you're making one for Excel. Does that answer you're question or am I telling you something you may already know? Also try this link

This is close, but not quite the right formula. The additions didn't work.
The TC I need to add up looks like this 00:00:00;00

I tried hh:mm:ss.00 and hh:mm:ss;00 and my sums came up as 00:00:00 or something akin to that.

Tweaks?

Do you think you guys could have another look at this?

Right now I'm trying to add numbers of the format, 1:59.000, and I just can't get it to work!! I'm REAALY frustrated. I've tried [mm]:ss.000 and mm:ss.00 and mm:ss etc etc.

Help!

Still need some help with this, please!

I've managed to add up time code that has the format hh:mm:ss.000, but NOT the format hh:mm:ss:ff, where the frame rate is 29:97. It just doesn't recognize the last two digits, regardless of the frame rate. The only way I can add up these cells is if I manually go into each cell and delete the last two digits. And boy oh boy does that ever defeat the purpose of a spreadsheet.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Adam

I'm sure it's possible, but have you tried Google? There are loads of free/shareware apps that can do this on both Mac and PC

I'm on pc. I've searched google, and haven't found an easy solution. Any specific suggestions?

This is one thing I found, but it won't work for me. My numbers are already entered into the spreadsheet. I don't want to have to re-enter them! http://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage...readsheet.html

I also found an extension that works for macs, but that's no help either!

Thanks!

You might wanna try Tcode. It allows you to feed LTC into your mac or pc sound input. You'll be able to read any code as well as define a hot key so you can have the TC cue points transfer directly into excel or word.
