Talking Tower of Power

Just finishing watching a telecast of Tower of Power at Montreux.

These guys are just insane musicians- Santana came on for a couple of tracks- it was wonder.
I am speechless... and breathless.

That hammond playing is [insert hyperbole].

great guys... i met them at the bottomline nyc in 75 .... tried to join actually.... i was in the air farce band at the time and garibaldi had been in himself at one time and been stationed with a friend who made the intro.... im assuming that the organist on the show was chester? (thompson) guy really gets around ... the santana coonection is of course chester as hes in carlos's band... and they all hail from oakland....

I used to have 3 or 4 of their records. Hmmm, perhaps I should get back into them? They are awesomely tight, and really creative band. thumbsup

Yeah-Garibaldi is back but he is playing a lot more relaxed than in the 70s.
Its still funky but no comparison to the high energy syncopated funk that he played in the 70s.
Still my fav soulband of all times.

So now he's just human
Till this day I can't even figure out what he played in "Oakland Stroke" let alone play it. One of my favorite drummers. Glad to see they're still kickin.

Roger must be amazing because the shoes left behind by Chester Thompson are large. Very cool
