| Hellow dudes & dudetts of corse ... Im saving some money to buy a pair of GOOD studio monitors, but meanwhile i need a nice pair of headphones to do some tracking ... I can´t have any bleed so its gotta be closed, or IEM kind ... What cans do you suggest ? I´ve been looking into .. Ultrasone HFI-700, Beyerdynamic DT 770 ( but those are too bassy i think) and Ultrasone Closed PROline 650 ... I would appreciate comments on those cans ... and suggestions for any other models ... And .. btw ... are those IEMs good for tracking ? Do they present a good amount of detail, and nice response ? ... Shure E4c ? Etymotic ER4S ? ... Im also looking for great audio quality not just noise canceling ... (I mean nice quality ... close to open-backs) Thank You All And HI EVERYONE ! 1st post e |

| Lives for gear | Etys all the way! I own a pair of Senn hd600s, the AKGs, and a lot of others...the Etys (er-4) are the absolute best pair I have ever used, with the most isolation. TEddy

| Ultraphones. No more click bleed! Sony components in a 'flagman on the tarmac' type enclosure. Google to find the site. They work great for tracking drums, bass, anything. David Brown |

| Then why did you ask us? Just go to Guitar Center, ask the Full Sail grad that works there what to get. I'm sure it'll be great. David Brown |

| Grado RS-1. They need about a MONTH to break in and you need a reference headphone amp (like a Grace, or the one built into a QUALITY monitor controller headphone, like the CraneSong) but MAN they are accurate and easy to work on. High end? Yes. Expensive? Yes, compared to Ultrasone, Sony, AKG, Beyer. Sonics? Unparalleled. Sad but true! |

| I use AKG 171s for my tracking. They seal very well and sound very good. They're slightly hyped in the hi-end but that helps them cut thru The cord is detachable at the phone... very nice feature I have the following and prefer the 171s Sony 7506 Sony 7505 Extreme Isolation (Isolates well but sound quality leaves a bit to be desired) More Me AKG 271 |

| FWIW, tracking here with AKG K271s and Beyerdynamic DT770. No complaints. We also have Sony MDR7506 and Beyerdynamic DT100 and a few others, but the 271s and 770s are 1st choice. |

I like the 271 also, but for tracking the 171 isolates better. a bit off topic... I have a pair of AKG 701s. these phones are superb. if you're ever in the market for an open back check these.

| I've got one set of GK-Music Ultraphones and I also just got a deal on 5 sets of Beyer DT150's for £200 ($340) The Beyer Dt150's are good for the money, a lot more comfortable than the famous DT100's. The Ultraphones are really nice and unbelievable for not letting any bleed out. I've found them invaluable for finding the sweet spot on guitar amps too, highly recommended here.

| I heard today about Vic Firth headphones, if you can believe that, that are designed with drummers in mind ("Can you turn up the click some more?!"). Apparently, they are pretty good. http://www.vicfirth.com/products/headphones.html |

I use mainly Proline 2500 (open) and Proline 750 (closed) - and HFI-650 if I need more headphones (it was the first Ultrasone I bought). Very satisfied with them - especially the two Proline models.

| I keep buying high (and low) end phones including the Prosones, various Sennheisers, Beyers, hoping to find the perfects phones, and none of them have replaced my lowly Audio Technica ATH-M40 headphones. And I think you can get them at GC. They are cheap enough that everyone should have at least one pair. Try them!
