Question low power cause Digi hardware crash?

Hey there.

I am recording 48 tracks into 3/192 I/Os (PT 6.1.1) and from there into Glyph key drives in a GT 308 enclosure. During my recording the other night, I continually got the playback error message of DAE can't get enough audio from the drives--firewire drive could be fragmented, etc. I also got an error that said to try thinning automation. Firstly, the drive is fine--it is brand new, not fragmented, and was initialized correctly. Secondly, I was running no automation whatsoever--each track had auto turned completely off, and the automation follows edit option in the operations menu was unchecked. I am running a few plug-ins, but have had no problems up until now. Then the other night, I kept crashing with the above errors. Also, on the system usage window, the only thing that showed extreme usage was the disk space. CPU was fine, plug-ins were at only 40--67% usage.

Now here is the question. The power at this particular venue was extremely low--104VAC. The transformner we had would not pump it up any further than 114, but it fluctuated a bit. I am running eveything through a power conditioner, but it does not make up voltage, only protects against spikes and fluctuations. Could running the 192s and/or the Glyphs at such a low power cause these errors? I have recorded over 50 shows with this same setup and never came across this problem until the other night.

Thanks for any help.

I know one thing... Digital does not like to run under 110 volts AC.
Consider investing in a buck/boost coil to make up the +/- difference in the voltage. It's a pretty cheap way to go when you need the proper voltage. The right sized Variac will also to the trick. Just use it on your digital devices.
