QUALITY CONTROL?
Qualihuminana?

Yeah, Schoeps are priced below DPA and a few other major options, and I don't think they are any less quality, but yeah I would like to see economic trends work in favor of prices in the US instead of constantly against.

I am surprised the BPHO are not completely tooling up with these.

Just because they do not propose a range of accessories as complete like Schoeps.

Perhaps you do not recognise the indicative signs of the Australian sense of humour?

Nevertheless, I have to say that Peter Freedman appears to have the good business sense to recognise markets which are potentially profitable and those which are not. In my view, the NT-55 preamp is a competent and well executed design. Unfortunately, the capsule designs are in my view derivative, the omni NT-45 being clearly modelled on the KM183 response. I was told at one stage that they were contemplating a fig-8 capsule (no doubt two NT-55 cardioids "back to back") but were not going to consider hypercardioid or wide cardioid (or a 'near-field' omni, for that matter).

Perhaps there is an opportunity for an 'after-market in NT-55 capsules, maybe like an adaptor to mount Oktava capsules on an NT-55 body. (A possible example of North-South detente?)

Even better, an adapter for ck-x or ck-6x caps ;-)

Stereo Pair of CMC6/MK2S - $3465.
2 DPA 4006TL - $3300.
I'm not sure where you are getting your info. These are the "old prices" BTW!

Didier, the DPA 3506 is a lot of gear along with the matched pair: grids (4), spheres (3), mic stand and case for the all of it. I think that ~Euros3900 would be more accurate for a pair of 4006 TL's.

I agree but for this price you don't get matching, which is not an absolute necessity because the consistency of the frequence response of the DPA mics is good enough. But if you want a matched pair you have to get a stereo kit.

Yes I did! My answer was just French humour.

2800 € 5500 € 3500 € ...
In fact, the contract price may be significantly lower. Street price and price for a corporate client are two big differences. Usually voiced total investment (the device, the project, installation, etc.)

DPA 3506 = matched pair of DPA 4006-TL = 5740 €
But this does not mean that someone buys at that price.

Last year I spent two months at the Philharmonie with several of the orchestras that play the hall (including the BPO) and it was certainly all Schoeps at that point (Sept-Oct-Nov).

Cheers,

Hi Michael.

When I was at Davies Hall in May of this year, it was all Neumann D for the front line. The Forssell mic pres are still there in the CR and are used for the spot mics.

Cheers,

HB

Was it evident if these mics, too, were digital? You did not say.
