| I'm curious to find out what people are using for reliable, portable multitrack systems (24-32 track) that will either include using or eventually interface with Pro Tools.

| ProTools. It's not a small rack, though. When there is NO money, I go back to my old Mackie HDR 24/96's. Cheap & easy...they actuallly sound OK at 24bits. JvB |

I've also used the ATI 8 CHL pres which have a real basic stereo monitor mixer builtin. If you can afford em this is about the smallest package you can have with a basic way to monitor what you're doing. Normally we use a Mackie Xbuss 200 for monitor although I also have a rack with a pair of little Roland 24 chl mixers that sound amazing and are really cheap used. Tiny little knobs but lotsa efx sends and they are stackable. | |

| Yeah, we have a couple of Roland M480 48 channel line mixers that are used in the same fashion as you described. The best kept secret in the (used) line mixer department. I see them on eBay all the time. I like them for dual 24 track dates. the A/B switch comes in very handy for that application.
