UK folks - know anyone with a VW camper van?

Strange one. I need to record a few sound effects of a VW camper van... you know, the classic old curved top mini-sleeper vehicle.

If you know anyone in the UK that owns one (ideally around the London/Surrey/Kent area) I'd be really grateful if you could put me in touch.

Thanks.

PS it is music-related. I'll tell you how later.

I'd say check some of the forums out there... I've found a T4 forum so far, but the googles keep pointing me to dutch sites, as my browser's in dutch, so.

Search for "VW T1"

In case you're wondering how this turned out, most of the VW owners clubs and rental services were a waste of time (never bothered to return phone calls or emails)...

But heroes of the hour were the Kentish VW Klub.

Meant a long drive out to Maidstone, but they looked after me brilliantly. Even got some tips on modifying my T5.5 Transporter while I was there.

I know two guys. They are camper vans but not the classic rounded ones. They are more like commercial vans, hard edges. Based in Canterbury, south east Kent. Pm me if that's any help.

Remember the days when you could combine the enjoyment of a concert at London's Royal Festival Hall with a visit to the camper vans parked in nearby Belvedere Road by the dozen? It became known - heaven knows why - as the place to buy and sell them, chiefly by Australians touring Europe, and you'd see lines of them right down the road. But parking controls did away with all that - and endless chances to record their engines!

Look up the local ads to see who's selling one.
I'd sure let someone record my car for a few quid.

I'm you have no luck, try VW beetles. They have the boxer engines too.

Thanks for all the suggestions and offers - I got it done thanks to The Kentish VW Klub - A kent based Volkswagen enthusiasts club for fans of VW old and new - air or water cooled

Great folks. Thanks Lee and Brian. Even if you're not an owners club kind of person, it's well worth popping over for a pint at one of their meetups.
