Stripping speaker components out of old boxes? WWYD?

I have a minor dilemma on my hands regarding an old set of PA speakers. I'd like to know what you'd do with them.

I've had this pair of EV SH-1502ER cabs since new in the 80s. They sound great, but they're big (32"x20"x20", 81 lbs. each) and the cabinet style is out of fashion. I haven't even had an inquiry when I've advertised them at $350 for the pair. I'm thinking that if I have to drop the price any more to sell them, I am at the point where the separated components will likely fetch more. Plus, I can ship the individual components and sell them on eBay.

I'm beginning to think I've just been unduly sentimental about these speakers and I should have gotten them out of the garage any way I could years ago. What do you think? I value the opinions I read here, so please let me know.

Wooden cabs weigh heavy but sound great
I got rid of my 2KW Meyer 500 system cos the 4 cabs weighed too much for one man lift
Now installed in a club in Newcastle
Try the Bay.

There are probably small folk or jazz clubs around that would love to have these. Also a newly formed teen rock group could also get some really good use out of these speakers. Have you tried Ebay or Craigslist? Even some churches could use them for a social hall or for portable speakers for rallies. I think there are a lot of uses for them "AS IS". Hope you get some good money for them.

1. Drop the price
2. Craig's List for a local sale

If you itemize when you do your taxes, a $350 deduction could be as good as money. You might want to consider donating them to a charity.

Unfortunately, we're too healthy to itemize.

I have advertised these speakers and seen the same bunch of other peoples' large PA speakers on the local craigslist for months now, so it's not just my speakers that nobody wants.

I actually have talked to several groups about donating these, but they too have balked because of the large size.

Strip out the 15 inch woofers and advertise them on eBay as rare custom "thumpin bass subs" for a 1990 Honda Civic!

If your local CL isn't happening try the GS sales forum w/ local pickup, or decide how far you are willing to drive them. Besides dropping the price the only other option is donation to a non-profit and take the tax savings (it you itemize). With some gear it finally becomes worth more to get the space it takes up back than it is to make any money on it. I've had good experiences with CL Free.

If all else fails, hang 'em up in the garage and hook up a pawnshop Pioneer 20w receiver... it worked for my old Bozaks...
