Question G4 Rack Enclosures

Calling all Remoters! I need to put my G4 in a rack encloser (like the Marathon but there out of biz) I don't want rack ears or a rack tray. Does anyone know of a company that builds them for Mac.? There are alot of company's that build them for PC's but not mac. Any sugestions?

Apple makes rack mounted servers. Maybe you should send them an email or ten about manufacturing a G4 or G5 enclosure.

Checkout their Xserve G5.

In any event, there's got to be someone holding a boat load of those Marathon enclosures.

Sounds like a really good future business venture for someone.

Thanks Steve, I'll give them a try, I just found a company called GVS that builds extremly high end mac equipment for NASA, the military and other high end users that might do it but I might be into it for way more money than it's worth. They will put there other components in it and replace the mac's lower end components. I have a show comming up at the end of July (6 days) of recording that will require alot of transfer from my radars and my hd24xr. Three- 3.5 hours sessions per day of 48 tracks (there are actualy 72 stage lines being mixed down to 48 tracks). I only have 1.5 hours between most sessions to do the transfers onto OWC Mercury Elite Pro 800 Raid (2) 1.0 TB drives. That way they (the client) will have a master and a redundant back up. When a session is done we will remove my radar drives and start tranfering (I have other radar drives that can be recording while the transfer is happening. I will also remove the hd24xr drives (my reduntant back ups) and shelf them till the transfers are completed and checked for wave forms (real audio) on both T.B drives and my back ups before recording over the next set of drives in both sets of systems (Whew!) then start the process over 3 times a day! So I am setting up a transfer suite in one of the dressing rooms close to where the truck is parked inside the arena to keep the confusion down inside the truck so they can just do there job of tracking and mixing for video. I am doing these shows more often and need to have everything racked up and ready to work without having to build on site (time is everything) So if GVS is outragous I will go to plan B and try to locate someone elese's rack system. Thanks to any one for any info....Craig

I wonder if the xserve has room in it for a decent video card and enough space for the needed pci audio card...

As I look at the xserve pics on apple.com, I also wonder if the fan in that thing is noisy and am guessing very much yes.

@shproductions03: I'll take it. That's the marathon brackets? It's not the one that slides out, though, right?

BTW, I've heard (on here actually) of negative results when putting a G4 into a separate rack-mounted enclosure. YMMV
