Uh...wow, man. That's awefully general. It seems a little too broad of a question. The size of stuff I do live, I really don't find myself doing a lot of panning. Stage stacks are spread so wide compared to how close the audience stands to the stage, so I can't really see panning something hard to one side because it may as well not be in the mix for somebody standing on the other side of the venue. Maybe that's just me... I run everything straight up the center. '57 and 609 are both good options. p.s. over there in France... you speak English better than I speak French.

| If you have an e609, you may try that instead of your 57. Make sure to try different mic positions and angles. I usually start by placing the element of the microphone a little off-center and aiming about at the edge of the dust cap. Don't be afraid to use the EQ. -tINY |

I like MD409s on GTR cabs. If they're not availible try the E906 instead of the E609.

thanks for your answer, but when I record music I use a panoramic with guitar and in the middle of the mix there is: drums, bass and voice that's why in live situation I want the same situation! so the band play rock stoner as: 1 guitarist: Kyuss Cowboys and Aliens Motorhead Rage Against The Machine 2 guitarist: Hermano Queen of the stone age Clutch Fu Manchu Down thanks! |

so much depends on the cab(s) and the guitar sound. but the 2 main ways i would consider a single sm57 or a beta57 if you can get 1 center if they have multiple cabs or a multi speaker cab, use 2 57s, one on each and pan them hard left and hard right. it can sound alot better alough you will be lucky if 1 or 2 people actually notice but if it sounds better to you then you have more fun mixing it. dont bother with a DI unless you need a cleaner sound, you will just run into phase problems. i always mix in stereo but except for FX returns or multi micing a source i will never pan hard left or right due to stacks being so wide. you should always keep that in mind |
