Hello All, Running dual X48 machines from a Z-sys router (redundant) all ADAT fiber. It's been very reliable for years now, finally needed to upgrade the original drives for longer record times. Unfortunately i replaced the drive and upgraded from Ver 1.1 to 1.2 at the same time. I only changed one machine so the other machines is still fine. Swapped the drive for a new Western Digital A/V class drives, 1Tb w/ 16mb cache. I followed the Denalli instructions from previous post and all went fine. setup a test record and it ran flawless 24bit/48K for 20hours across all 48 tracks. i was confident. went out on a job last night and the upgraded machine stopped 4 times in a 80 minute set. Window pops up and states "Recording has been stopped - Error in record engine - out of disk buffers" if i remember correctly. I hope someone has run across this before. I'm suspecting the new software V1.2. thanks tim harrigan wirebox media tim@wireboxmedia.com

Hello V1.20 has been very solid for us. The few times we've had the "record buffers" errors were when the external drive was formatted as fat-32, and when the mixer purchased what I charitably refer to as "Toys R Us" drives. Other than those two we haven't had the errors again. Hugh |

Wish I could help, but I've never seen a "record buffer" error on either of my X48s (both upgraded with Seagate Barracuda 500GB internal drives). Change to another make of drive perhaps? I wouldn't have thought that that v1.2 is responsible for this one. FWIW, I don't record to external drives on the X48s. To me, it's just extra stuff to set up, and another potential variable. |
