Question Sound proofing my mobile unit

HEy fellaz needs some tips.
I stay in a trailer and i have room that i want to use
for a soundbooth, now the room isn't very big, i can put one hand on one wall
and one on the other!
but the walls are paper thin, i need info on how to treat the walls!
Thanks fur your time!

I really do stay in a trailer and i'm wondering if any of you can relate to my situation,
and I want to know if staying in a trailer is a turn off to potential clients?

Thanks in advance!

I'll check in the morning for you responses!

I think a bad sounding recording is a turn-off to potential clients.

Other than that, I think you can get creative with the rest.

I've been in a trailer/mobile home before and i think you're just s.o.l. hate to say it, man, i really do... but unless the construction of yours is 10 times sturdier to other trailers, they're just not build solid enough... I've looked into building even on a 2nd story, and it seems to me that if you're not sitting on a concrete slab or a really solid, purpose built second story structure, you're never going to have good results...

If you come up with something, though, that would be a mandatory thing for you to post and let us know aboutl

Hey, I feel your pain. I've been there, done that!.....Even tho the "room" I had was a little bigger, the thing that made my recordings "work" was that I lived in a pretty much isolated area, ( away from a lot of traffic noise, etc.) and had some of the most involved neighbors in the world!..( I kid you not). They respected what I was doing and "pitched" in to help when ever I had a session. They wold come over and ask when I was going to have a session, ask for how long, then they would "stand guard" to keep anyone else from disturbing "MY" session!.. .. To show my appreciation, I'd "cook-out" and invite them over and we'd have fun talking, eating, etc. But out of respect to them ( not wanting to take them for granted) I'll try to schedule my sessions not to go very late at night. Note that this was not just one set of neighbors, but nearly everyone in my immediate proximity!

I've moved on to a "bigger" studio now, ( away from that neigborhood) but man....I miss the " vibe" sometimes from the "one room mobile home studio"! Also, the recordings didn't sound half-bad either...!.. .. Good Luck, with your endeavor!

Unfortunately, with its thin metal walls, a trailer is going to be nearly transparent to sound. You can treat the acoustics inside, but sound will leak out no matter what kind of stuff you have on your walls. You could add mass to the walls, but to be effective it would have to be airtight, and all 4 walls, floor and ceiling. That would make the room even _smaller.

of course, it is a "mobile" home, so:

tow your trailer to a remote location far from everyone else

tow your trailer inside a big concrete building- the "room within a room" concept is what soundproofing is all about.

FWIW,

I've also been in your situation, albeit during "interim" situations between moves to other spaces.

The best way to isolate in one of these units is to build a "room within a room". Making a somewhat portable iso booth is your best option, but again - you need the room and it sounds like you don't have the space so this is not really a viable option...

If you have the space, almost anything is possible, but the tighter the room, the less chance you have to keep the 'outside' from creeping in.

all the best,
