Thread Starter | We are a band with harmonies and more harmonies. The thing is sometimes we have our own FOH guy and sometimes we don't. When we roll into a venue that has never heard our music it's pretty impossible to get the bgv blend just right. If you were to look at the faders during a mix of our show you would see the levels are quite different for each singer based on harmony part and strength of voice. We also use an In-Ear system Crest XRM with Shure PSM's. With all of this being said I am thinking of getting a small mixer to run all the BGV's into after the Crest XRM. This way I can control the level (blend) to be right. I know I run the risk of the FOH guy of turning the bgv's to high/low but at least it gets the blend right. Any suggestions on how to do this? Also is there any technical things I should avoid in doing this that may cause feedback and or system overload. Thanks for your help |

| Why not feed the direct outs of your console to the FOH? There's no need for an additional mixer. If the direct outs are post fader you can get the balance you need with individual feeds. If the direct outs are wired pre fader try balancing the vocals with the mic pre for FOH. Then adjust what you need for you IEM with the faders. Or if the console is large enough, split the mics into the other channels and feed the FOH from there. If these possibilities work for you all you need to tell the FOH engineer is to line the fader up in unity.

Thread Starter | Thank you. I was thinking that I would just send all the vocals out a stereo buss fully blended and dressed with the efx I want on them as well as a bit of compression. This would require a seperate mixer I believe and also make it easier. I was thinking of one of the mackie mixers???? |

| Do you need the second mixer because you'e using all 20 inputs and all 12 mono (6 stereo) outputs of the XRM or you feel better about having a completly separate desk? |
