I know I sound like broken record mode here but, the Onyx 1640 would be a nice choice. Also the Mixwizard 16 channel = worth a listen. War |

| Yamaha has some workhorses like that. I'm a big fan of the Soundcraft live boards, but a K2 is probably out of your price range. The K1, L7ii, or GB4 might work for you, though. Mackie is now selling 8-bus Onyx boards that look promising. -tINY |

Haven't used the Onyx, so take this with a grain of salt, BUT; I've never likes mackie consoles for live sound. Maybe they're improved, but all the ones I've come across (comparatively few, but I do live sound for a living, so I see alot of consoles) have had bad faders, stiff pots and little headroom. Definatly not roadworthy if you're going to be carting it around a bit, even in a case. I'd strongly advise getting a console from a company that really knows how to do it properly. If you just want to shuffle signal from mics to speakers the mackie might do the trick, but if you really want to MIX, I'd go for at least an Allen and Heath Mixwizard or GL2200. The Midas Venice is not toooo exxy in the 16ch frame and is excellent sounding as well, and would also be useable to record through in your studio, as the pre's are quite nice. (edit: graaaammmaaaar!)

IMHO, I got to say, the Midas Venice is (bang for buck) the best value out there. But, don't take our word on it -- Listen and evaluate the few suggestions on this thread and tell us what you came up with.
