I have a Professional Studio, Built and Assembled in Canada (so everything is 120v 60hz) Rigged up Nicely in Road Cases (ATX Certified) So I can Take it anywhere in the world. Only One Peice is Missing, and I need help from the Real Pro's on this... A Transformer(i think???)... which would let me use my 120v 60Hz equipment at international Voltages (50hz systems). I was originally planning to purchase only parts that had a switch on the back of them to work with international voltages, but since a few of my peices of gear ended up not having that, I was hoping I could just spend the bucks and get a small, high quality 'transformer' (or whatever I require) to put at the front of my rig. I really don't want to mess this up, so can u guys help??? I am prepared to do whatever it takes, Scott Harloff |

you'll probably find alot more of your equipment than you think can do both. For instance I got a distressor cheap because the guy that sold it to me thought it was the wrong voltage, so I just opened it up and changed the switch internally.. very little gear besides tv's and crt monitors care what frequency the power is (as far as I'm aware). A grunty step up transformer won't be to expensive, although it will be heavy and probaly better bought or hired at each location. Or you could just stick to canada and the US. i would've thought shipping any kind of recording rig wouldn't be worthwhile. I recorded with a big name producer once in New Zealand and we spent $10k US shipping his equipment over from the UK and ended up only using a couple of his guitar pedals.. narco

I'd contact companies like LEX products or Motion Labs who specialize in power and are UL/ULC (that's Underwriters Lab / UL Canada) -licensed so whatever they make for you not only does what you want, but is LEGAL in most of the world. Hope this helps! |

APC makes rack mountable step down transformers. Check around for prices, here's a link to the place I bought a general purpose step up transformer for my English clients that are working here now.: this is probably what you're looking for. You can go to APC's site to check for your exact needs http://www.110220volts.com/Merchant2...ch_Begin_Only=
