Question Garwood In-Ear Question

Hey there.

Not sure where to post this - so I thought I'd try here first.

I'm about to upgrade my In-Ear Wireless rig. I currently have a Garwood System 2 (1/2 rack) system - which has been working very well.

I'm considering going to the Garwood System 3.

Anybody here know anything good or bad about the Garwood stuff as of late? I've had good success with the System 2 - but occasionally I get a bit of intereference - and the System 3 allows me to change frequencies.

I'd probably also consider the Shure stuff - if anyone has anything positive to say about them - in comparison to the Garwood stuff.

Thanks,

SparkyCanada

Sparky!

Thanks for the post. I believe this IS the best place to drop your thread since IEM systems are used during the live performances we're involved in.

I'm more familiar with the Sennheiser and Shure brands of IEM.

I have used them both with great success.

I can't seem to log onto the Garwood site - and an email address I had from customer service came back as undeliverable.

Are these guys still in business?

I'm not sure about that but, I was able to get onto their Site via their other Webpages... Garwood Pages

Their copyrights are dated 2001; 2002 and such...

Info I searched for is also dates back to 1997...

Confidence is not high on this one but, you never know.

I hope someone with more definitive information will chime in.

I wish I had more information for you.

Thanks for your help Remoteness.

The only address I know or could find is: www.garwood-radio.com

and this comes up as a dud... - I hope they're still in business - 'cause I've really liked their stuff so far & would buy
again...

Have you actually logged onto their site recently?

Thanks

I believe that Garwood is a company of the past and is no longer in business. My partner in audio crime, who also does monitors for Journey, has had to have Neil Schon's Garwood rig worked on before and he had to send it to some place like Belgium if I remember correctly, where one of the ex-Garwood engineers lives, to get the unit fixed. So, in a nutshell, support is fairly non-existent for Garwood stuff.

GarWHO?

I threw out SIX G2 units in the last year 'cause we found no one to work on them, or who really wanted them. Back in 1996-1997 when we got the rigs, they were THE iem rig.

I'd go with either a Shure 700 series or Sennheisser. I got to play with the brand new Sennheiser that was just announced (I think they start shipping in June) when my Senn rep came by, and I LOVE this unit. Just love it. Expensive, but rock solid. I also think the Shures have great value.

Sorry the Garwoods are now the Edsel of IEM's...

Just thought I'd let ya know - I traded in the Garwood rig for a Shure 700 series - and it seems to be woking out well... though I believe the Garwood rig had a smoother sound to it...

I liked the sound of the Garwoods too...I put four System 2 rig on Blue Man Group in Chicago for their first set of IEMS and they worked very nicely. Shame they went out of business though.
