Thumbs up Steve Remote in Boston area

Hey! I finally got to meet Steve Remote on a gig. It was at a well-known venue near Boston, for a well-known band. (I'm not sure if I'm supposed to reveal names...)

I was very impressed, obviously. Steve and crew had their $#!t together, no doubt about it. The truck and gear are all in great shape, all well-maintained, all organized and labeled. They were all professional in every way; they knew their gear, knew how to deal with a few unexpected things, and knew how to deal professionally with an uncooperative person or two. (Even then, after the hatchet was buried, said uncooperative person was later given a tour of the truck.)

So it was a great time! I arrived home at 2:00 and had to be up at 6, but what the hell, it was well worth it.

Steve, thanks for the tour, much appreciated. I can return the favor, if you're interested: I'll be at Wormfest in Worcester, MA on 13 Sept. 15 bands playing outside. I and my crew will be doing FOH, monitors and 16 or 24 track recording from one board sidestage. Insanity, but that's the way I like it! ;-)

Actually, if anyone reading this would like to come out for that show, you're more than welcome. Shoot me an email or something, I'll give you all the gory details.

So if anyone ever has the chance to work with Steve, go for it!

Greg,

It's nice to put the face to the name (or handle). Thanks for coming by to the gig. You are always welcomed. I wish we could have had more of you folks there. The backstage scene was too tight for any flexibility.

We also had a great time! Yeah, Rob and I were eating at Rhode Island's only 24 hour truck stop at 2:00AM. Got back to NYC at just before 6:00AM.

Good luck on your Wormfest date. Fifteen bands, outside concert, FOH, monitors and a multitrack recording sounds like you and yours will have your hands full. Why do you like to set up FOH side stage? It really does sound weird.

It's more a need than a want. We don't have a long enough snake, we don't have a splitter, we don't have a second board, and we have to do changeovers. Hey, it worked fine last year! :-)
