Hello, Im wondering what digitalreverb you guys use when you add some extra reverb to your recordings in enviroments with mutch reverbation like a church or hall? I was thinking about when digital reverb is added and designed to match the reverbation in the recording. Just to add some extra reverb in the postproduction. Personally ive only used the Lexicon 960 so far at school. Its nice i think. Alot of options to design the reverbation with. Cheers /Mavro |

i use SIR II with IRs from lex 960 and 480, EMT plates, and acousticas bricasti M7. selection of the appropriate IR is the key. there are thousands of useless IRs out there. so far, i have found maybe 5 that i like, and only 2 that i actually use.

I find that the A Room HQ algo can mix very well with church natural reverbs when the room size parameter is nearly at max. JMM

For chamber music in concert halls I'm using a combination of Magix Variverb HQ and ArtsAcoustic reverb. A bit of both, one fed into the other. It's noice. Sounds more natural to me than IR's - there's some movement in it. "Everyone" uses Altiverb but I'm not sure what it's specific benefits are vs any other Convolution verb, except an exceptional library (thats quite a benefit). Me, I just like a good Algo better.

I'm finding it interesting that so many of you use added reverb in a reverb laden space. I typically don't use any reverb at all in a reverberant environment.

| +1, the SRV-3030/3030D really shines at this, but it really helps to be good at editing the presets. There are quite a lot of edit parameters making this machine incredibly powerful in this respect. It does modern short/ER rooms really well.

- little concert hall or churches with a lot of first reflections but a too short tail - big church (cathedrals) where there are a lot of long reverb but no first reflections So each time the natural reverb is not so good for dosmestic listening. In this spaces I try to reduce the natural reverb when positioning mics. JMM

IME, mathieujm is exactly correct. Remember that microphones are much more primitive devices than our ear/brain systems. They don't "hear" sounds like we do, so we are limited to what a microphone can transduce. Add to that the expectations of the customer producer and the listening consumers of the recording and it seems quite clear that it is sometimes the case where no selection and positioning of a microphone will produce the optimal reverb in a given venue. Or you are recording in a practically "run-n-gun" situation where you don't have all morning to try different mics and move them around for optimal results. |

I've owned a lot of Roland reverbs, most of them I think, and I found that the the SRV330 is easier to use than the SRV 3030, and more logically laid out. Plus the 3030 can not used a latched foot switch which I found unacceptable. However I still don't know the OP's budget, I found the TC M3000 an excellent value and fabulous for ambient (room sound) type reverbs, miles ahead of the Rolands, accept for the R880 which has beautiful ambient programs.
