Question Hey any vets? How would you record this music; it's live w/ peaks & dynamics all over

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWV-31cqntI

this is a powwow group there is a lot of different groups...most travel all over the US and Canada, they make a lot of money and make a lot of cds, contest against each other (most contest are anywhere from $5000 to $25,000 per weekend.. so its decent money)...im starting to record some groups but because not many record this type of music, not many rules or ideas are going around about the best way to do it..

anyway everything is live theres no retakes...its really really loud...the singers sing high and the drum is loud and louder durring the downbeats.. then the calls are loud also..

how would u control the drum peaks and the downbeats... while catching the highs and group energy as best as possbile.. thanks for any help!

I would try with mics set to 8 and aiming them out of the drum directly, 2 or 3 ( or 4 ) would do around the ring, pan as you feel

I would think this would be a good candidate for some type of binaural method. At least a quasi-binaural method to make it as re-creative and immersive as possible.

I don't have a binaural head, so if it were me I'd put my Crown SASS on a high stand angled down toward the middle of the group.
