Exactly. I have been using adapters and SDHC cards in my Sony EX1 camcorder, and my next-generation Sony NX5 cameras just take SDHC directly.

Im wondering, do the canon 5D/7D/550D pass the image directly to a HDMI out ? if so the blacmagic box would allow you to record beyond 12mins..
Many DSLRs have a heat problem as well as storage and power problems that limit recording time.

Even if it gets superseded it doesnt mean it will be useless, fundamentally i dont see uncompressed footage being captured to a device with no moving parts being outdated for a while.. and if SSDs are too expensive now, well you just wait until they are cheaper before you buy it dont you.. isnt that obvious ?

its good to see Sony going with SDHC, rather than restrict to just their own format(s).. The EX1 with the SDHC is great, my friend has that camera and i often take footage he has shot home on SD.. if all he had was the SxS cards i think i could still use my laptop express card slot, but the SD method makes things easier..

I don't see how the Hyperdeck from Black Magic would be outdated. As for expensive SSD's, well if you want uncompressed that's what you need and IMO it's a small price compared to the total cost of a rig.

I bought a 240GB SSD to a Hyperdeck today and will buy more and bigger SSD's when prices drops.

My first short tests today with the Hyperdeck indicates a very nice quality improvement compared to shooting compressed.

What we will see though is smaller and smaller solutions similar to Hyperdeck. I would not be surprised to soon see decks the size of a SSD with next generation compact flash cards that manage uncompressed 12 bit at full 4:4:4 sampling or something along those lines.

As I understand the SDXC technology allows for 2TB in the near future. That would mean aprox. 8TB in a card the size of compact flash.

What we need is more speed though. What's the max write/read speed for todays compact flash.. 90MB/s or so?

Finally got this baby in my hand! Not yet test it yet, but it does feel very Sound Devices. Seems no 96KHz sampling, audio embeded in the video file only.

First test run PIX240. Wish future firmware features:
1. Audio tracks, since SDI allows 8 tracks. Why not keep 4 from SDI and let PIX240 insert the rest 4?
2. Audio format, seems only 48/24. How about seperate audio file for 96/24?
