Indeed. A perfect example for a GS fact.

@MichaelPatrick: you're right, so let me rephrase: 'in my professional opinion,' Nagra vs. SD is conclusive.

That's equally presumptuous. If our in-house pundit will allow it, I'd like to differ. If I were deciding between the Nagra and SD (which I am not) and based my decision solely on your samples (which I would not, as valuable as they are), I would easily choose the Nagra. Sure, the 788 has its strengths in certain frequencies, but without hesitation Nagra would be 'my' preference.

Now we haven't got very far in this thread in terms of hard "facts," so I have something in mind that should help. It may be several weeks, but watch this space

That's fair.

Please don't cherry-pick my words. I said "I concluded from the shootout ..." and "In my opinion ..."

Unfair presumption is to assert that "the shootout is conclusive."

As it stands above, you "concluded" from the shootout that... most critical music recordists will be happy with either model. Based on that you formulated an opinion?

Don't worry - you aren't liable You're fully entitled to your conclusion, just like everyone else.

Word confusion won't fly here. I went to grammar school. Let me recall something about objects and verbs:

You said the shootout concluded. I said I concluded.

Both are grammatically correct but only one is accurate. Can you tell which?

Hint: The first sentence is a "Gearslutz Fact."

I conducted the shootout and I won't easily let anyone characterize it as "conclusive."
Well, isn't that impartial and obliging Please, don't take any grammatical criticism from me seriously. And, in the future my posts will reflect more of the estimable ascendancy of the uniform suavity of a Herodotus and the terse brevity of a Thucydides.

Just preventing the shootout from becoming a canonical text wielded by SD or Nagra fans.

Good, because it's just a harmless *shootout!*

Thanks for the chuckles
