This thread is in this forum every year so I figured I'd start it here again.

Excellent opening medley.

In this forum we discuss broadcast tech and such; broadcast production; live performance stuff; all television related shows and ideas.

We are the mobile and location recording and broadcast forum which all addresses the jazz, classical and acoustic music and beyond.

They = the voting NARAS community.
If you're not digging the outcome of who's coming home with all the awards, consider become a voting member of NARAS and come part of the movement in making a change.

It's not difficult. As long as the releases you have credits on are available to the public "somewhere", i.e. band web site, CD Baby, Amazon, downloads, etc., you qualify!

The qualifications: (from Grammy365.com)
====================================
Voting Member

This classification is for creative and technical professionals who qualify in at least one of the categories of eligibility. All recordings must be commercially released in the U.S. either through traditional distribution channels or recognized online retail settings.

Traditional Distribution:
If you have received technical or creative credit in any one qualifying category on at least six tracks or equivalent, you qualify. All recordings must have been commercially released in the United States and distributed through recognized retailers. One qualifying credit must have been released within the last five years.

Digital Distribution:
If you have received technical or creative credit in any one qualifying category on at least 12 tracks or equivalent, you qualify. All recordings must have been commercially released in the United States and distributed through recognized online music retailers. Applicants must be actively promoting themselves in their chosen field. One qualifying credit must have been released within the last five years.

Christina certainly redeemed herself, IMHO. As did the "pro audio community" as compared to the Super Bowl fiasco, IMHO.

Grammys

Well, any thoughts?

Was glad to see Esperanza Spalding take the Bieber award. Arcade Fire for AOTY? I don't know about that. Personally not a big fan. But it certainly could have gone to worse people. The performances were pretty good. Loved the Em/Rihanna/Skylar/Dre performance. Skylar killed it! And the Ceelo/Gwenyth Paltrow performance was dope as well. And Norah Jones did a DEAD ON Dolly Parton! Very impressed. Mick Jagger did his thing as expected. But Usher...WTF happened? Did he sing one note the entire performance that wasn't f*cked up? When he actually sang that is, which wasn't much. And Katy Perry...YIKES. Strong voice, shame she has no sense of pitch. Mumford and Sons and Avett Bros. were good as well.

Dave Sinko won his fourth, while I had the pleasure of working a Punch Brothers show with him last night, and listening to his excellent mix. Congrats Dave!

Yeah I'm going to Berklee right now, so a lot of pride there.

But Drake had a very good year this year.

Unsubtle

Far too much histrionic wailing especially from Christine. Does she get paid by the note ? Admittedly her audiences lap this sort of thing up so the more positive reinforcement she gets the more of it she does. It's the vocal equivalent of plank-spanking.

Of course, it should be duly noted that Bob Dylan's harmonica solo was a joke...but hey, he's Bob Dylan!
