For those in the LA area, I'm going to be involved with a couple pretty cool remote gigs. Unfortunately, I'm not doing the recordings anymore for this organization (I did everything for about 5 years), but I'm still doing some FOH work for some of the shows
There is a summer music festival at UCLA called the Henry Mancini Institute. The main performing ensemble is a 70+ piece studio orchestra. There are also chamber orchestras, combos, and a big band. (
www.manciniinstitute.org) The concerts I'm working are the ones at the Schoenberg Hall... The Royce concerts are pretty impressive too... All but the last one (a benefit) are free, too.
The rig is totally high-end (serious drool factor). Mics are all at the level of U87s, TM 170s, KM 84s, etc... The recording is being done straight to Pro Tools, with some pres by GML, some Neve EQs, etc... Don't know what the boards are this year... Our recordist is a guy that was formerly of Capitol records and Sony Scoring.
Anyways, if anybody is around, drop by and say hi to me...
