RNC live

I do alot of live stuff in small bars and clubs and lately I've been taking my RNCs along. They are great in a live rig. With this band I'm working with they do arange of stuff from old ZZtop and Allman Bros to some new country and some old country then throw in some Hendrix. In small clubs we just mic up the kick and snare as the drummer sings and I get lots of tom and cymbals through his vocal mic. I run the inserts of the console to the RNC for the kick and snare and put it in really nice mode with a medium attack and a fast release and enough threshold to just catch the peaks at a 2:1 ratio, the neat thing is that with 3db of gain I get ZZ and roll it off to get Haggard and the drums stay nice and solid in a pocket for all the tunes. I patch RNC another across the mains again with a slower attack and a quick release and ratio a little below 2:1 and it does anice job of smoothing out the 2 buss. Were using a D 112 or a 421 on the kick depending on the room (in my opinion the 421 eats the d112 almost everytime) and either a 57 or a beta 57 on the snare ( again I'm really liking the beta 57 more and more as a snare mic both live and in the studio. Just a little info that might come in handy to you guys who do some FOH. Take care Logan
