Talking Affordable and Portable

I am thinking of putting the following gear together for a small home (first) and Mobile (second) recording set-up and would like to hear the critiques.
1) MAC G5 Power Mac - 8 core new one I think. (should I look for a certain proc. chip?, will be buying new)
2) A&H ZED R16
3) Alesis Masterlink ML-9600

DAW will be both Logic and DP for personal work flow reasons (okay, I haven't yet memorized or customized Logics keystrokes.)
Plugs - big collection, but will also put in a UAD Quad card

Monitors are Event 50/50's, powered.
I have been using Apogee Duet for stereo mixing and occasional OD'ing, but do more mixdown than tracking.

I have to buy 1,2 & 3,own the other stuff plus a bunch of 'better' pre's (Avalon, Trident, Tube Tech, but they aren't leaving home rack) and other outboard gear. Budget is approx 10K U.S.

Please throw your input in!

For the most part looks good but I would reconsider the Masterlink personally. It is a little dated and the CD drive is not that useful for high resolution audio. You might want to consider Tascam's DVRA1000HD or one of their flash memory recorders as an option. The DR-680 is getting some high marks around here and has the advantage of being a multi track device.

My first reaction was to check the year of the OP's post.

I think you're making a mistake by getting a G5, and that's just an off the cuff reaction from me; but still....

If you're getting a great deal and your software now and tomorrow will run, then go for it.

Then again you did say "Affordable and Portable." A G5 is not going to be exactly portable.

And you said you'd be buying new...

Out of curiosity, where can one buy a new G5?

I may be missing something obvious. If I am, then accept my apologies.
