Ahh... but I'm not a proper Gearslut, so I probably don't count. Carry on. P.s. I have been dreaming of MK2s and MK4s for a while, and this thread has totally reawakened that in me.

That was the point-- there are no 32-bit converters, and the wordlength internally expands to 32-bit floating as soon as you do anything in your DAW. You are merely adding empty zeroes and are wasting alot of HD space this way. Once you bounce your files to the chosen format the wordlength is reduced to 24 or 16. Rich |

The nice thing about saving in 32 bit mode is that the "mix engine" of you favourite DAW doesn´t have to quantize down to 24 bits, and if you have a clipped mix with some peaks above 0, you´ll still have them in your 32 bit file.

2Ivo, BTW nextime we should try 4006s with the DD0254 grid attached (as Mr. klaukholm recomends) and maybe brand new 4090 or 4091 as well ... what do you think about ? |

Ivo, Thanks for the samples! I think the DPA sounds more natural and open especially in the higher frequencies than the Schoeps almost like the DPA reaches higher. It would be interesting to know how the AKG C480B/CK62-ULS would compare. I've heard that it can be compared with DPA and Schoeps in quality. Nice instruments you have there, you could do a career in east Asia Thanks again thumbsup Hans |
