Exclamation Looking for Audio Engineers in the Boston area...

Yep,

We head to the Boston area a fair amount of times.

We don't stay over night on many of the Boston dates. In those cases, it would be much better to hire a crew locally...

For that matter, any New England gig would be applicable.

A typical remote recording situation would be as follows:

Park (the truck), power (the system), (electronic) set up, soundcheck (the performers), record (the show) and strike (the set).

Yesterday, we recorded the Allman Brothers Band from the Tweeter Center. Other bands we worked with in the Boston area (over the past few months) include; The White Strips, Beck, Jane's Addiction, Jack Johnson, Saliva, Seether, Evanescence to name a few.

Any good (great) Audio Engineers in the Boston area looking for some freelance work on our dates?

Keep us posted by email, Gearslutz PM or via this thread.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Oh, oh, me me!!!! (Raising hand emphatically, much like in second grade... :-)

Give me a call: (781) 224-0556

Or email: grw at theworld dot com

Or send a carrier pigeon. Or smoke signals. Or just think really hard.

Hey, I've wanted to meet you and sit in on a session anyway, I already have a clue about on-site stuff, and I'm *SO* ready to quit my regular job.

If you don't watch out, I just may call you! :-)

Well, I may not be a great audio engineer but I'm big, I can lift stuff and look REALLY intimidating. I've been recording and editing books for the past two years. I'd love the chance to sit in on something like this. Shit, I'll be your coffee boy if you want.

You can e-mail me at either studio@perkins.org or frtless5@comcast.net.

Thanks,

Jon

Hey JBlake, wanna work for me?? Or at least hook up? Where are you, anyway? I can always use gear movers. I have a few gigs on my own, but rather than the Allman Bros. or Saliva at the New Garden (I mean Fleet Center) I record bands like Whiskey Down, Belisama, and Purge DI at places like a run-down practice space in Worcester (Woostah) and Pub 30 in Tyngsboro. Hey, lot less stress at this level...

Whatever, give me a call or something. Maybe I'll see you on one of Steve Remote's gigs. (I have to call him, too...I've been busy, BION...)

Hey Greg,

I live in Salem and work in Watertown. I run the talking book facility at Perkins School for the Blind. Weekdays are pretty shot but with enough notice, weekends are doable.
I'd love to get some live sound/remote recording chops going. It's a different animal than what I'm doing now.
Shoot me an e-mail. We could get together for a couple beahs some night.

hey boston people, just found this great site. im am a budding live sound engineer in boston working for a small company running an small EAW system. i am also doing some live recording for a rather popular funk/jamband out of boston. if anyone is ever looking for a stage hand or a loader i am alwasy ready to go. i spent a year at mass comm but have since moved into the working world to try to get some hand on learning. i am familiar with all the gear and most of the setup for live recording. id like to one day work on remote multitrack recording so if i could even just come along to pick up some knowledge that would be great too

Hey,

Thanks for all the PMs, emails and posts!

I will call you folks when we are in the area, so we can meet and discuss things. We should be in the area in August so, expect a call, PM and/or email from me then.

A get together sounds kind of cool. Maybe we can do it the next time I'm in town.

If applicable, you are always welcomed to visit us in NYC!

See you real soon.

OK folks, we're going to be in Mansfield, MA on August 13th. If applicable, maybe even a set up day on the 12th.

Quit possibility, I can arrange to see a couple of you during this time, but you have to PM, email and post your request! I shall need to know ASAP so I can get things situated.

Maybe we'll see you soon.

PM, email and post? Fair enough, I can follow instructions! Here's the post. Check your PM in a few minutes.

Great Woods, eh? Oh, I'm sorry, Tweeter Center. Well, I've been there before. Excellent place!

What times are you looking at? I do have my 9 to 5 job, but I could leave somewhat early if needed. I know that you probably set up all day, so my regular job throws a monkey wrench into the works, but hey, I'm trying! :-)

If I can be of some use to you, let me know!

Thanks,

-GRW

So this is the first post I read after getting back on the net. Steve, I'm in the middle of MA, 30 mins from Worcester and Hartford. Feel free to ask me. My email is cleantone at hotmail and I check it 2 times a day or more. I'm currently freelance but not making a big effort getting gigs. I have experiemce though I have never done a snake to the truck but I know whats involved. I typically do in house multies. If I can be of some help let me know.
