Question RNP vs. Audient ASP 008 for classical and pop/rock productions...

Hi,

I would like to seek your advice on the questions, whether to prefer:

Audient ASP 008 including ADAT

or

lets say at least two RNPs with some good ADAT converter

for classical music recordings (orchestras, chamber orchestras and chamber music).
things will be recorded on a HD 24 via ADAT to be mobile and independent of lousy computers during live performances... I have an octamic d ready for the rest of the mics.

I would like to add some very neutral and clean channels (I wanted to start with the main mics pres first - mics are presently MBHO MBP since I get them quite cheap in Germany, and Neumann KM; may be some Schoeps soon aswell; setup is either Decca or any equivilancy stereo, depending on location, music, available time and so on).

I don't want to spend more than 2000$, therefore no millennia or daking or or or...

Is there anyone, who has done such a comparison or has good/bad experience with any of the two for the mentioned purposes?

I, unfortunately, can not have a look at the RNP, since my local dealer does not stock it.

Best and thanks for any comment

Leif

DAV BG-1 preamp. 2 channels for 680 bucks. Do a search of it....and youll see how highly it is regarded.

I have the ASP008 and it ROCKS! It's quiet and the stuff I record with it sounds big and ballsy and true. Great value. I wish I could afford the 8024 - I really like Audient gear - great value. I use my 008 to track all kinds of stuff from sound effects for audio post, to acoustic and electric solo guitar to choirs, even voiceovers. The preamps never get in the way. The switchable impedance allows me to play around with tonal coloration from my mics, the DI inputs are handy and the ADAT out makes it simple to get good audio into my field multitrack.

Sorry for the plug but I happen to know a certain Forum member with the initials JL who might have an ASP-008 for sale...

PM me if interested.
