I'm doing mostly acoustic jazz location recording and my approach is very minimalist - I try to get things perfect during tracking so that when I get back the studio and mix, no EQ/Compression/Reverb is needed. Inevitably though there is the need for small amounts here and there and occasionally for larger amounts (when I'm not listening properly on-site). Does anyone have recommendations regarding vst plugins for use in this kind of work? Generally do you go for a surgical & clean sounding plugin? I'm thinking that since my mics and pres are all very clean sounding (no tubes anywhere), that I might want plugins with a bit of colour to mix things up a bit. Thoughts? |
