Thread Starter | Sanken CUW-180 stereo mic - opinons please Any user reviews / opinions of the Sanken CUW-180 stereo mic? I searched the web backwards and forwards, can't seem to find any reviews / comments. I might have a chance to pick up a mint one, used, at a pretty good price, from a trusted source, but with no way to audition it beforehand, so it would be a "roll of the dice" for me. I'd want to use it for music recording, mainly in the studio (assorted acoustic instruments: drums, percussion, guitars, etc), with occasional remote use. I tend to prefer fast, detailed, accurate mics such as Schoeps, DPA, etc. If this CUW-180 can hang with these types of mics generally speaking, I'll probably find it to be a very useful mic. Anyone out there in gearslutz-land ever use the CUW-180? If so, I'd love to hear your opinions. How would you rate this mic for professional-level studio recording of instruments? What are it's strong points and weak points? Can it be considered fast, detailed and accurate? Or....? Thanks. |

| Lives for gear | Sanken CUW-180 stereo mic - opinons please From what I've heard it was more or less tailored for mr. Jim Anderson. He uses it on double bass with great success. Fast and tight. I've no idea how it works as a main pair, I hardly ever use xy. |
