| Gear addict | I'd be very interested too. I found this on the Jensen site: www.jensen-transformers.com/an/an005.pdf More to follow as/when/if I find it. Dave.

| Active splitters have not been on the market for a long time, so there are not a lot of DIY info available. Is there a reason you are doing an active splitter rather then using a transformer-based splitter? Using a good transformer, like the previously mentioned Jensens, will make an excellent splitter. I have a store-bought transformer-isolated splitter snake and it works great. I use if mostly for recording live performances, and sometimes to split mics for main and monitor mixes. I’m assuming that the active splitter could actually degrade the sound unless the components were the best of quality. Building your own could get quite expensive unless you are only splitting one or two lines. |

| I’m not sure what you meant when you said, “Active splitters have not been on the market for a long time…” I'm just looking for some clarification. Active mic splitters have been around since (at least) the early to mid 80s, Aura Sonic was the first remote recording operation to use active splitter systems (way back then) even when they weren’t in vogue. Many active splitter systems also use good transformers in their design. I would not use an active splitter without a good XFMR when splitting to outside facilities and such.
