I'm interested in taking my S2A's with me when I go record on location - does anyone know where I can get some kind of case to transport them in? Like the kind the speakers come in when you get them from rental companies like Dreamhire. Even maybe a tough bag-type case? I suppose I could make one myself too... Where do you get that foam stuff for equipment cases? Thanks guys |

A bunch of companies make custom cases. Road Ready, Rock Hard, New World, Star, and QT are just a few of the bigger companies that do this. Heck, you can even call up a joe-normal pro audio vendor (like Full Compass, for example, who use Road Ready) and have them spec out a custom case from one of their suppliers, and the case will be drop-shipped to you. The last time I bought a custom case from Full Compass, my rep there asked me what product I had and what case features I wanted. She called back half an hour later with a price, and two weeks later, I had a case on my doorstep. I never even pulled out a tape measure!!! Your favorite pro audio vendor will probably do the same for you. Personally, I'd order the case from the vendor who sold you your ADAM speakers, because presumably, they'll know the product well enough that they'll be able to communicate to their custom case provider whatever details are needed to get you a case that works. (Like for example, the case should have a lil' cutout area or pocket for an IEC power cord and an XLR cable too. And the foam shouldn't put pressure on the woofer or on the tweeter grill. And maybe the top of the case should double as a short speaker stand for meter-bridge placement, so it should work with a soft pad underneath it and the speaker on top of it. Etc.) On second thought, why not call Dave Bryce at ADAM if he's got a recommendation? He's gotta ship speakers all over the place as he goes from trade show to trade show. |

I got them used so I'm not exactly sure where the nearest dealer is, it would be easy to find out though. Thanks for the suggestions! -Ben |

I had custom cases made from Encore Cases in North Hollywood CA... Cost a couple hundred bucks each, but they are indestructable. Gave them measurements and an idea of what I wanted. They designed and built them. Mine are for Genelec 1031's, but you could have something like this made for any speaker quite easily. --Ben |

The ONLY case company I trust is Future Case in Framingham, MA [or R&R cases in Des Plains, IL... but they're 1/3 more expensive for an equal quality of work]. Besides our cases they've built stuff for the Stones, Aerosmith, NBC sports, CBS sports, Fox sports... etc. Talk to Ray Thomas if you call... his number is: 800-235-0411 [Ray owns the company... feel free to drop my name... I used to work for Ray back in like 80-81 somewhere in there]. Their website kinda sucks... but it's http://futurecase.com if you want to check it out... BTW, the "5 Drawer Workbox with the fold away table" was first made for me back in '93... it has a couple of "wheel marks" but other than that it's been humming along just fine. We have other Future Cases that we got in the early 90's... that have been around the world several times on a bunch of different tours and are still running like champions. I can't say enough good things about this case company... but I can say a lot of bad things about most other case companies I've encountered over the years. Best of luck with your search.

Curious as to whether there are any new developments? Have the Focal 6 BE's, K&H o110's, Genelec 1030's, and am evaluating some others like the ADAM s1x and the Genelec 6010 w/sub... Whatever eds up being the main "travel" monitors will need a great case, especially if it's the SOlo 6's! Fragile! Your counsel is appreciated!
