Talking Glyph GT050Q rugged enough for remotes?

Glyph - GT 050Q

What do you think? I'd be racking it in my remote setup (ATA case on rollers) to have a permanently installed drive (tired of cables boucing around, psw unplugging etc...).

I've considered others, such as the Glyph Portagig (Glyph - PortaGig SSD), or the Lacie Rugged (LaCie - Rugged Hard Disk - USB 2.0 Hi-Speed) but I don't know about their 2.5" format and USB powering (I know they both have power supply available, but again...cables and such).

I like the fact that the Quad Glyph is Digidesign certified as I use PTMP on location with my laptop...

The word to you guys

After loosing two external hard drives due to power issues, I went with the 050Q. I love it. Makes me feel like my information is safe and protected on the rack. It is very durable, and they even include a nice hard case for storage or rack-less travel.

Great, thanx, have you racked it up? How does it fit?

Yeah I have it racked, the optional rack ears allow it to fit centered in a 19" space. Unfortunately is too large to fit two in a single rack space.

The only drawback I see is that with the large internal power supply and fan, this drive is a little noisier than standard external drives. A minor issue for on location work, but could be a concern in a quiet monitoring environment.
